My name is Savannah Stevens and I am a freshman music therapy major here at Appalachian State University. I grew up in  Houston Texas and have lived and breathed music since I could remember. I hope to one day either work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with premature infants or work with older adults in hospice and palliative care. I think that people generally underestimate the power of music and what I love about my major is that it proves how impactful music can be on anyones life. I truly believe that music is its very own language that unites everyone together and is a force that does not discriminate others. In a world that can sometimes be overrun by hate I hope to use the skills that I will acquire here at Appalachian State to spread love and positivity through music.

"Music is therapy. Music moves people. It connects people in ways that no other medium can. It pulls heart strings. It acts as medicine."
